Farmers Draft Horse, Mule and Pony Club

What we are all about...

In 1988, my Pa (Bill Winslow) and Stan Merrill (the founding fathers of the club), held the first meeting in an upstairs room at the local fire station in Harrison, Maine.  I remember sitting on one of those hard wooden chairs and thinking to myself, what has Pa got himself into now?!  I couldn’t believe that we had so many horse people living so close around us.  The room was so crowded it overflowed out of the room and down the stairs.  No one wanted to leave, they stuck around talking horses and farming.  Directors were chosen and meetings held to plan events that grew and grew.  The public would stop and watch the events as the teams worked a field.  Watching the public watch us was one of my favorite things.  I felt truly blessed to be a farmer and horse woman.  Currently we have over 200 members stretching all over the US and growing strong.
